Announcing Solana RetroPGF Round 1

Published on
October 1, 2023

OpenBlock Labs is thrilled to partner with the Solana Foundation on the first Retroactive Public Goods Funding (RetroPGF) initiative on Solana.

What is RPGF and why does it matter?

Retroactive Public Goods Funding (RPGF) is a novel funding mechanism designed to sustainably support projects that have delivered a significant public good to the ecosystem. Unlike traditional grants, RPGF allocates funds retroactively, rewarding projects that have already demonstrated positive impact. The process begins with the clear identification of criteria that define a public good. Funding allocation is then determined through a voting process involving a diverse set of community delegates who ensure that funds are directed towards initiatives that have already delivered real impact to the community.

Delegate Selection Process:

Delegates, the key decision-makers in the RPGF program, are entrusted with the critical task of directing fund allocation. Selected for their significant activity and contributions to the Solana ecosystem, these individuals are not only well-versed and engaged in the community but are also available and committed to the success of RPGF. Their selection is a careful process, considering their willingness to participate and ensuring they bring valuable insights to the table for the program’s success.
